The best part about Wilco was that they played with that rare spark that is missing in so much modern music. They are their music. They live to play it, they play because they love it, and for no other reason. They project that passion onto the crowd in such a way that you can't help but be swept up in it. They were just so good! And even though they have been around for a long time, and they have been playing shows for years, and they are very famous, they still do not take themselves too seriously. Several times during the show, their songs morphed in the "Ole Ole" chant, the theme song of Spain. The crowd went crazy for this. They loved Wilco, I loved Wilco, my friends loved Wilco, and Wilco made us feel like they loved us too.
I think I lost my voice from screaming when they played my favorite song, "Jesus, etc". I even posted it here in this blog, and I'm sorry that you can probably hear me singing along...
I will talk about seeing Wilco in Spain for the rest of my life, while oozing love and awe for the band. I will dream about Jeff Tweedy's voice singing to the tune of Nels Cline's unbelievable guitar. For those of you who have to hear me talk about them time and time again, I'm sorry. They were just that good.
